Practice Philosophy

The construction process is fraught with potential liabilities for everyone involved in the project.  Owners, developers, architects, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors all benefit from having legal advice before the project starts.  Patrick J. Goggins, P.A. is committed to protecting clients from potential liability, working to assure successful completion of the project.

The lawyer's role in a successful construction project is acting both as a counselor and as an advocate.

As a counselor, Patrick J. Goggins, P.A. advises clients of their rights under the law.  In the construction context, the "law" means not only the federal, state and local laws pertaining to the project, but also the agreement between the parties.

As an advocate, Patrick J. Goggins, P.A. represents clients in contract negotiations, claims management, project closeouts, and in litigation.  The most important phase of representation is in contract negotiations.  This is where the client takes advantage of legal representation to reserve rights under the agreement.  Having an advantageous position in the agreement minimizes the risk of incurring liability during the course of the project.
